Navigating the tapestry: This page is the starting point for exploring the leeds tapestry. There are 5 possible levels of detail to explore. The top level (where you are now) is the broadest. It shows the tapestry as a whole - all 16 panels - but gives little detail or information. The fifth level is the narrowest. It shows just one of the small (or sometimes not-so-small) embroideries making up a panel - but in great detail. By clicking any image you will zoom in to the next level. Holding your mouse over an image will let you know where you will be taken if you click there. Clicking any of the images above will take you directly to level two: a close-up of that single panel. From there you can delve deeper and look at the embroideries making up that panel in detail, together with discovering more about who made it and how. Alternatively, clicking the coloured menus on the left and at the foot of every page allows access to level two for the relevent panel. The five possible levels of detail are as follows: | Level | Description |
|---|
| 1) | All tapestry panels | Smaller images of all the panels in the Leeds Tapestry. | | 2) | Single panel | Larger image of one tapestry panel with description and a list of all sponsors. | | 3) | All embroideries for a single panel | Thumbnail images of all the embroideries making up a tapestry panel. | | 4) | Single embroidery | Larger image of one embroidery with a description, the volunteer‘s name, how long it took to embroider, the sponsor and the technique used. This level also has a link allowing visitors to send comments to the Leeds Tapestry team. | | 5) | Detail of a single embroidery | A pop-up image showing the embroidery in more detail. |
